UCCA9370832 - We are in need of pipe fitters for full time work in the SF Bay area. We are seeking industrial pipe fitters, preferably with marine experience, to install and repair shipboard steel and cuni piping systems, including pressure piping, fuel, exhaust, and drain lines. Applicants should have personal hand tools, dependable transportation, and be capable of reporting on time to work consistently per schedule. Must be able to work upwards of 20+ hours of overtime a week. MARINE PIPEFITTER DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This is journey level work in the installation and maintenance of fire fighting, bilge, hydraulic steering, sanitary, potable water, hot water heating, fuel, and exhaust piping systems on yachts, dredges, and ferries. Employees perform routine maintenance and install complete systems from blueprints. Work must meet Coast Guard standards for safety and quality. Employees perform with considerable independence in routine work. Complex or unusual assignments are discussed with a technical supervisor. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES PERFORMED: Visually and through hydrostatic testing, inspects existing piping systems. Overhauls or replaces pumps and valves. Installs piping systems according to blueprints and Coast Guard regulations. Repairs piping systems through replacement of defective pipes or joints through soldering, silbrazing, sweating, or welding. Performs related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of Coast Guard regulations pertaining to plumbing systems. Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of piping systems. Working knowledge of safety precautions in the pipefitting trade. Ability to use tools and equipment necessary to affect repairs. Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings. Working knowledge of the characteristics of pipes constructed of a variety of materials. Minimum Education and Experience: Completion of grammar school and three years of experience in the installation and repair of a variety of piping systems similar to those aboard yachts, ferries, and dredges; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Compensation package includes salary ($18 - $30/hour DOE) plus benefits (medical/dental/vision/life insurance, vacation, sick time, holidays, 401K, and profit sharing).
