Hands-on support is required, while providing his/her own personal hand tools and will require long hours and a variable work schedule at times as needed. DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Review jobs/work orders, determine work priorities; Ensure repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment for continuous production operations; Assist with directing maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operation; Assist with developing preventative maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of plants; Review production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities; Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards; Confer with Engineering Manager, production management, and quality assurance personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment; EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAMS: Responsible for work assignment management and personnel performance of staff technicians; Assist with written performance evaluations, coaching, corrective actions and terminations; Assist with managing staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage; Review time sheets and resolve all time-sheet issues; Assist with recruitment; Assist with Staff Meetings and bi-monthly safety meetings. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Three plus years of maintenance related experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with supervising a team of 5 – 10 mechanics. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. COMPUTER SKILLS: MS Office, experience with ERP-type system is a plus. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid California Driver's License, clean driving record. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
